Environmental Assessment Process

The Detail Design for Highway 69 four-laning will follow the planning process for a Group “B” project as outlined in the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (MTO, 2000).

A Route Planning Study and Environmental Assessment Report was completed which identified the recommended alignment for this section of Highway 69. This report documented the planning process and outlined additional work that must be completed during the Detail Design to finalize the preferred design and develop mitigation measures. It was approved in February 2008.

In response to issues identified following commencement of the detail design, and based on the results of additional investigations and assessment, a new preferred alignment has been identified. The new route is approximately 300 m east of the previous alignment at the Highway 529 interchange and matches the previous alignment at the north and south project limits. The new preferred alignment is documented in an Addendum to the 2008 Route Planning and Environmental Assessment Report (PDF/30mb), dated November 2014.

Public input is encouraged throughout Detail Design. If you wish to be added to our mailing list or submit comments or questions, please go to the Contact Us section of this website.

Nearing completion of the project, a Design and Construction Report (DCR) will be prepared and made available for a 30-day public review. Notices for the review period will posted on this webpage, published in local newspapers and sent to individuals on our project mailing list.
